Kindergarten

  • recognize/locate sight words in isolation and within text
  • ID/locate first and last letter of a word

First Grade

  • use letter-sound relationships in sequence
  • automatically recognize/locate sight words
  • use known words and word parts to solve unknown words (prefixes, suffixes, onset, rime, words within words)
